(BAAPS) The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic surgeons have reported just under 4,000 liposuction procedures were carried out in 2006. That figure is up 90% from 2005. That figure includes 3,500 women and 500 men at a cost from 3,000.
/Surgery PR News/ - April 13, 2008 - (BAAPS) The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic surgeons have reported just under 4,000 liposuction procedures were carried out in 2006. That figure is up 90% from 2005. That figure includes 3,500 women and 500 men at a cost from 3,000.
This desire to improve ones body shape continues to increase in numbers opting for liposuction. The combination of an obesity epidemic and the 21st idealism of body perfection could well be the reason behind the boom surgeons have said.
It is stressed however that liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a quick fix for weight loss. Douglas McGeorge the President of Baaps has warned, liposuction is not a quick fix for the obese.
Who is a suitable candidate for liposuction?
Liposuction is extremely effective at removing unwanted fatty deposits. Ideally suited to someone who exercises and eats healthily but cannot remove stubborn areas of fat. If someone is very overweight it is advised they lose some weight before liposuction can be performed.
