James P. Bressi, DO celebrates 17 years of service
Cuyahoga Falls, OH, July 15, 2009 /Surgery PR News/ -- James P. Bressi, DO, President of Summit Pain Specialists Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in osteopathy, chronic pain management, non-invasive treatment, and surgical procedures to relieve pain resulting from spinal cord injuries.
Dr. Bressi is a highly accomplished physician with 17 years of experience in pain management, anesthesiology, and osteopathic medicine. He has been directing all aspects of a 6000-patient pain center for eight years while also holding the title of Director of Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital's Falls Pain Management Center. At Summit Pain Specialists Inc., he successfully coordinates with two other doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants and interacts with psychiatrists, psychologists, pharmacists and physical therapists in the treatment of all types of pain. Dr. Bressi previously held the titles of Associate in Pain Management and Anesthesiology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center-East (1994-2000), Pain Management Rehabilitation Associate at Meridia Euclid Hospital (1994-1996), Pain Management Associate at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital (1993-1998), Pain Management and Anesthesiology Associate at Meridia South Point Hospital (1992-2003) and Practicing Staff Physician in the emergency department of Warren General Hospital (St. Joseph Health Center) from 1988 to 1989).
Dr. Bressi is a Diplomate of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He has served as a clinical preceptor for rotating internship programs at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Iowa College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a host of others. He is the author of nearly 20 journal articles and professional publications and has more than 20 speaking engagements to his credit. He attributes his success to his integrity and his genuine care for patients.
Dr. Bressi completed a fellowship in pain management at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Strong Memorial Hospital in 1992 and did his residency in anesthesiology at Warren General Hospital (now St. Joseph Medical Center) from 1989 to 1992. He also performed his rotating internship at Warren General Hospital from 1987 to 1988. Dr. Bressi received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987 and stayed on to complete his pre-doctoral fellowship in osteopathic medicine, in 1987. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in English from The College of Wooster in 1977, he completed coursework in pre-medicine at Kent State University and Walsh University. Dr. Bressi is Certified in Added Qualifications of Pain Management through the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology; Certified in Anesthesiology through the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology and Certified in Teaching through The College of Wooster.
Dr. Bressi was a member of the Cleveland Academy of Osteopathic Medicine;s Executive Committee from 1995 to 1997 and sat on the President's Advisory Council, Physician Liaison Committee for Meridia South Pointe Hospital from 1995 to1997. He is a member of the Summit County Medical Society, the Cuyahoga County Medical Society, the Ohio State Medical Association, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He aspires to develop a full pain center that incorporates psychological pain management and natural medicine methods.
