Melba L. Bray has 47 Years of Experience in Patient Care
BALLWIN, MO, December 22, 2009 /Surgery PR News/ -- Melba L. Bray, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for South County Anesthesia Associates, Ltd., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of anesthesiology.
A 47-year veteran of the healthcare field, Melba L. Bray has extensive experience in both general and obstetrical anesthesia. She lends her talents to South County Anesthesia Associates, a private practice that services St. Anthony's Hospital and two surgery centers. As nurse anesthetist, she is tasked primarily with assisting physicians with cardiac ablation, pacemakers and defibrillators. She also shares her knowledge to post-graduate students as a teacher of clinical anesthesia. She also does general and monitored anesthesia at two surgery centers.
Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Bray served as director of nursing and head nurse of a CCU in Hot Springs, AR and worked as head nurse of a neuro-rehabilitation center in Albuquerque, NM. Previously focused on obstetrical anesthesia, she considers making a seamless return to general anesthesia after 16 years to be the proudest achievement of her career. Ms. Bray attributes her success to setting high standards for herself, striving for excellence in everything that she attempts, and adhering to her personal mantra: "God, grant me the strength to reach out for my dreams and see the world with understanding and love and believe in the beauty of life and the dignity of mankind."
Ms. Bray became certified in anesthesiology in 1983 through Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She earned her diploma in nurse anesthesia in 1983 from Barnes Hospital and her diploma in nursing in 1963 from St. Joseph's Hospital. Her professional affiliations include the Missouri Association of Nurse Anesthetists, the Missouri Nurses Association, the Missouri Association of Advanced Practice Nurses, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Away from work, Ms. Bray enjoys spending time with Leslie, her best friend and husband of 30 years. They both look forward to going into semi-retirement in two years.
Previously honored by Cambridge Who's Who as 2008 Professional of the Year in Anesthesiology, Ms. Bray dedicates this new recognition to her mother, Zuleika Elizabeth Roberts Todd.
