New Back Surgery Without The Scalpel

February 10, 2010 /Surgery PR News/ -- A new minimally invasive surgical technique known as TESSYS was pioneered in Germany and has arrived in the U.S.A. TESSYS is a set of sophisticated surgical instruments and high resolution camera that can be maneuvered through a very small incision no larger than a small finger nail. This procedure allows for exceptionally gentle correction of the painful condition commonly known as "slipped disc".

Dr. Robert Kelly, D.O., a Pain Management Specialist at Rutherford Allied Medical who is performing this new procedure said, "I love seeing patients walk out of our same day surgical center with much of their debilitating pain relieved. This surgery has many wonderful advantages over the classic back operation methods, specifically, less post-surgical infections, minimal post-surgical pain, and faster recovery ranging from 2 to 4 weeks versus 3 to 6 months, with a documented 93% success rate when performed on the ideal candidate".
