Judith L. Franchi worked as a nurse in Saudi Arabia for 13 years
GREENBRAE, CA, December 03, 2010 /Surgery PR News/ -- Judith L. Franchi, a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Special Care Unit at Marin General Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in patient care.
Judith Franchi served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman and briefly explored a career in radio and television broadcasting before deciding upon a career as a registered nurse. The profession has opened many doors for her, including the opportunity to work for 13 years at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At the time, Western medicine was first being introduced to that part of the world, and Ms. Franchi met and worked with doctors and nurses from all corners of the world. Since 1996, Judith Franchi has worked with a bright and enthusiastic staff in the Cardiac Special Care Unit at Marin General Hospital. Although she finds that nurses' responsibilities have increased along with a reliance on technology, she still loves what she does, and the gratitude expressed by a patient with a whispered "Thank you" or a squeeze of the hand makes what she does worthwhile. She attributes her success to her determination, education, listening skills, and passion for her profession.
Ms. Franchi is certified in medical/surgical nursing, and is pursuing certification in critical care nursing. In 1973, she received her Associate of Science in Nursing from Norwalk Community College, and the Most Confident Nurse Award. She is a member of the California Nurses Association, the American Heart Association, and the American Association of Handwriting Analysts.
She enjoys reading mysteries, watching the History Channel, creating pen and ink drawings, and painting pictures and scenes on rocks that she collects from the beach. She retains her appreciation for the Middle East and the Sahara Desert and their antiquities.
