During his educational career, Dr. Powers graduated with his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Baylor College of Medicine and attended Southern Methodist University where he received an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. He completed his residency in general surgery at St. Luke's Hospital and is affiliated with St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa.
