Lorraine Beitel Honored by Top Professional Registry

Lorraine Beitel lends her services to one of the leading blood supply providers in the Pittsburgh region

PITTSBURGH, PA, September 24, 2010 /Surgery PR News/ -- Lorraine Beitel, MT (ASCP), SBB, Medical Technologist at The Institute for Transfusion Medicine, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in medical technology.

For the last 22 years, Lorraine Beitel has played an integral role in the provision of a consistently safe and adequate blood supply for the residents of Pittsburgh and its surrounding area. A recognized authority in blood banking and immunohematology, she now thrives as Medical Technologist at The Institute for Transfusion Medicine, where she is responsible for troubleshooting equipment for pre-transfusions, performing non-routine testing, blood grouping and antibody screening, and identifying antibodies to help patients receive appropriate blood transfusions. She is proud to join the dedicated staff at The Institute, in support of the region's many corporations and organizations, and most importantly, she noted, its people. She credits her success in such endeavors to her education and family background.

Named Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology's "Top Student," Ms. Beitel notes that she first became involved in her profession through her interest in biology. She holds a bachelor of science in biology from Waynesburg University and is both a certified medical technologist and a certified blood banking specialist. Moving forward, the American Society for Clinical Pathology member will seek to continue to develop her knowledge with the latest industry technologies.
